ABOUT US
Green Tech H2O Systems was established in May of 2008, by Mike and Gale Shaw, to offer South Texas an exciting viable alternative to the traditional salt-type softener. They had no idea of starting a business as they set out to fix a hard water problem they had in a newly purchased older home. Here’s their story:
In January 2008, we purchased a 30 year old home. After moving in, we noticed an incredible amount of hard water buildup in the toilets, showers, and appliances. Our dishwasher looked like it had a dull white porcelain finish inside but that was not the case. The hard water minerals had completely covered the stainless steel interior. As many new home owners do, we purchased several new appliances and realized if we wanted them to last, we were going to have to address our hard water issues.
We met with several well-known, name brand, salt-type water softener dealers but just could not give in to continually adding salt to our water and negatively impacting our bodies with absorbed sodium. We’ve never liked the taste of soft water and really did not like the slimy feel that one has when bathing or showering. It just feels like you can’t get the soap off.
After a great deal of due diligence, Mike found several alternatives, then narrowed down the search with some phone calls to different manufacturers and distributors. Hands down, Mike felt the Pelican™ PSE1800 Combo unit was the water treatment system for our family and home.
The reasons were many: the Pelican™ equipment required virtually no maintenance, no electricity, no wasted water, no monthly salt or potassium additives/expenses,…… and the system was more than half the cost (when you compare softener to softener only) then you add a whole house water filter (this is for the entire home-every shower and faucet) the combo system still cost less than the well known conventional softeners that have been around for years.
There was an added major benefit: a de-scaling process that actually helps to preserve the pipes, appliances, and water heater. Plus the Pelican™ equipment was environmentally friendly, and there were no salts back washed in to the sanitary sewer system.
Upon installation of our PSE1800 Combo Series, we noticed that in a couple of days, our hair and skin did not feel as dry as before. The water tasted better. Soap lathered just fine but there was no slimy feel when we washed it off. Within three months, the inside of our dishwasher was rid of almost all the mineral buildup. It actually took a little longer (1-1 1/2 months) for the wire rack to be de-scaled.
We were so thrilled with the results of the product in our home that we decided to spread the word and become a dealer for Pelican™ salt-free products.
